The BHA hardware supplied consists of the following parts:
BHA base plate 1
2″ BALL – 3/4″ SHANK – BALL HITCH KNOB 2
3/4” FENDER WASHER, SPLIT WASHER AND HEX NUT 3, 4, 5
1-1/2″ LONG BY 1/2″ DIAMETER CARRIAGE BOLT 6
1/2″ FENDER WASHER, SPLIT WASHER AND HEX NUT 7, 8, 9
The hole C in the BHA base plate fits the square shoulders E of the carriage bolt 6 so that only one 3/4″ wrench is required. Hole A is the clearance hole for the ball hitch knob 2, hole B is the clearance hole for the Simple Hitch compression pin, and notch D fits around the 1/2″ brace shaft of the Simple Hitch.
Tool needed: 3/4″ wrench (socket, box, etc.)
STEP 1 Using the wrench, remove the 1/2″ hex nut 9 by turning it counter-clockwise. Slide off the 1/2″ split 8 and fender 7 washers. Remove the 1/2″ carriage bolt 6. Lay these parts aside.
STEP 2 Holding the BHA with the ball knob up, slide notch D around the black 1/2″ brace rod F on the Simple Hitch. With the BHA aligned on the base and brace rod of the Simple Hitch, lower the compression pin G so it goes through hole B of the BHA and into the corresponding hole on the Simple Hitch.
STEP 3 Drop the 1/2″ carriage bolt into square hole C and turn the bolt until its shoulders fall into the square hole. Holding the carriage bolt down with your thumb, slide the 1/2″ fender washer up on the shank of the bolt. Hold the fender washer up with the fingers of your left hand. Repeat with the split washer. Screw on the 1/2″ hex bolt until finger tight. Tighten firmly with the 3/4″ wrench.
